Jason Cronin

Season at Peru: 3rd

 

Coach Cronin begins his 3rd season as the Bobcats Head Baseball Coach.  In 2006, the Bobcats finished 7th overall in the Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference (MCAC).  In 2007, with 18 new Bobcats on the roster Coach Cronin’s squad improved their overall win total from the previous season and ended up with a 4th place overall conference finish which was good enough to earn a birth at the MCAC tournament.   

 

A native of Johnson City, NY, Cronin played collegiately at Broome Community College in Binghamton, NY before transferring to Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro, KY.  Cronin received several honors during his playing days, most notably Distinguished Academic All-American Honors.

 

Coach Cronin spent two seasons as the Head Baseball Coach at Broome Community College.  While there his clubs set numerous records including most wins in a season.  Cronin also served as the General Manager and Head Coach for the Binghamton Knights (CAN-AM league) and also spent one summer as the inaugural Head Coach for the Plattsburgh Thunder who competed in the New York Collegiate Baseball League.  Prior to arriving at Peru, Cronin spent one season as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Young Harris College in Georgia.  Cronin played a part in recruiting several standout players including Nick Markakis the Baltimore Orioles current right fielder and 1st round selection (#7 overall) in the 2003 Amateur Draft.  Cronin also served in the same capacity at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK.  Coach Cronin has worked with numerous professional draft picks.

 

Coach Cronin received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Kentucky Wesleyan College and his Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sport Psychology from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY.

 

Andy Davis

Assistant Baseball Coach

Season at Peru: 1st

 

Coach Davis is a native of Boone, Iowa where he played baseball and was an all-conference, all-district performer.  He was also selected as the Mid-Iowa Player of the Year as a pitcher. 

Following his high school days, Davis played two years of baseball at Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas where he served as the ace of the pitching staff and was selected as an All-Region player. 

Davis played his remaining two years at the NCAA Division Two level at Pittsburg State University.  There he served most of his time as a Mid/Long Relief Pitcher and was a Commisioners Academic Award recipient.

Davis also served as an assistant coach at Carl Junction High School in Carl Junction, MO, primarily working with pitchers and catchers.  He also spent a summer working at the Mickey Owen Baseball School in Miller, MO, getting the opportunity to work with a number of college coaches and former professional players. 

Davis's duties at Peru will include working with the catchers, outfielders, assisting in recruitment and maintaining Centennial Field.

 

Brad Martin

Season at Peru: 1st

 

 

Coach Martin begins his 1st season with the Bobcats as Assistant Baseball Coach.  Coach Martin will be focusing on hitting and infielders as well as recruiting.

 

A native of Nebraska City, Nebraska and a Peru State College Alumni, Coach Martin was a multi sport athlete in High School.  Coach Martin was a member of the Nebraska City state track championship team and still owns 2 all time track records at Peru State College.

 

Coach Martin was head coach of a competitive youth baseball team in Southwest Iowa for five years and head coach of Southwest Iowa Legion All-Stars for 3 years. Martin’s youth teams have finished in the top 10 three times in the USSSA or CABA World Series as well as attending the regional All-Star Southwest Iowa tournament. The past three years, Martin has been affiliated with the Mac-N-Seitz baseball organization in Kansas City, MO.  In 2006, he was one of the coaches of the World Series Championship Team and this team has been nationally ranked for the past three years.   

 

Coach Martin received his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from Peru State College and a degree in Gemology and Geology from Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. 

 

Coach Martin is currently working on his Masters in Business Management at Peru State College.
