Lanora
Washington signs letter of intent to play basketball
at Peru State
PERU, NE -
Peru State women's basketball coach Maurtice Ivy has
announced the signing of Lanora Washington to an
NAIA National Letter of Intent to play basketball
for the Bobcats. Washington is a graduate of Apple
Valley (CA) High School where she was a two-year
varsity letter-winner and still holds the Apple
Valley school record for most free throws attempted
and made in a single season. As a prep athlete,
Washington was an All-league player in basketball as
well as a conference champion in the long jump and
triple jump in track. After high school graduation,
Washington accepted a basketball scholarship at
Southeast (NE) Community College in Beatrice. She
helped her team to a 16-13 record this past season
averaging 9.4 ppg and 2.6 apg while being named to
the All-Region IX squad. In addition, Washington was
named Honorable Mention on the Omaha World-Herald
All-Nebraska Junior College squad.
