Bobcats Add Aleesa Olsen to Hoop Squad

(Peru, NE) Cheyenne, Wyoming native Aleesa Olsen has signed a Letter of Intent to play basketball at Peru State College for the 2008-09 school year. Olsen was a two year letter winner at East High School in Cheyenne playing volleyball, softball and basketball. She helped her teammates to State volleyball championships in 2003 and 2004, a state softball title in 2005 and runner-up finishes in basketball in 2004 and 2005.

Olsen received a softball scholarship to Mid Plains (North Platte) Community College in 2005 where she holds the school records for best ERA (1.85) and best pitching record (11-2). In addition, Olsen tossed a perfect game and two shutouts before being named Region IX second team in 2006-2007.

In 2006 the versatile Olsen, a 5'8" guard, accepted a basketball scholarship with the Lady Knights where she and her team earned the Region IX Division II championship. Olsen earned Defensive Player of the Year for her efforts on the court. In 2007, Olsen played a bigger role on the team averaging 10.5 points per game while adding 2.4 assists per contest. Olsen was on the top sixty scoring list and free throw percentage leaders throughout the season in Region IX, recording three double doubles along the way. Olsen is a member of the Dean's list at NPCC as well as a member of The National Honor Society.

"Aleesa has been the defensive stopper on her team the last two years and will fit nicely into our system, where we have a strong defensive philosophy," said Bobcats Head Coach Maurtice Ivy. "I also look for Aleesa to put up some nice numbers on the offensive end."
