Bobcats Shutout by
Mavericks
(MANKATO, MN) The Bobcats saw enough of Minnesota
State's Ben King in the first quarter to last a
lifetime. The senior quarterback tossed six
touchdown passes in the opening stanza and seven for
the contest leading his NCAA DII Mavericks team past
the Bobcats 70-0 in non-league football action last
Thursday evening in Mankato, MN. King finished 15 of
22 for 299 yards and directed the Mavericks spread
offense to near perfection.
MSU-M out
gained the Bobcats 442-82 for the evening and rolled
to a 49-0 lead at halftime. The Bobcats defense
played a better second half and held the Maverick
reserves to three scores. Nate Jeter (Tarkio, MO)
led the Bobcats on offense with 38 yards rushing on
twelve carries. Lynn Meyer (Johnson) added 33 in
nine totes. QB Derek Falor (Sioux Falls, SD)
completed 4 of 14 passes for 30 yards against a
strong Maverick defensive front. Neil Bowman (Wahoo)
and Ryan Sorenson (Madison) led the Bobcats on
defense with three tackles each.
The Bobcats
(0-2) look to enter the win column on Saturday when
they host former CSFL foe Southern Nazarene
University (2-0) in a 1:00 p.m. game at the Oak
Bowl.
