Bobcats Fall 31-0 at Jamestown
The Peru State Bobcats journeyed into North Dakota for football action against a veteran Jamestown College squad last Saturday. The Jimmies topped the Bobcats 31-0 exploding for all of their points in the opening 30 minutes. The Bobcats drop to 1-1 on the season and will look to rebound on Saturday when the Valley City State University Vikings invade the Oak Bowl in Peru. Kickoff time is 1:00 p.m.
Jamestown's Jake Stoltz returned two Bobcat punts for first quarter touchdowns to ignite the Jimmies. Stoltz's first run totaled 50 yards before he added a 49 yard scamper later in the period. The Jimmies added a 31 pass-run, a one yard run and a 17 yard field goal before halftime to complete the scoring.
"At half we basically revisited what we had practiced on all week," said Peru State head coach Terry Clark. "It was a disappointing opening half but the guys did not fold. We've had a lot of changes in our coaching staff, in our schemes and in our personnel in the off season. A lot of young kids are contributing and we will take away some positives from this game."
The Bobcats rushed for 111 yards on a soggy field led by Cody Smith (Ceresco) with 80 yards in 16 attempts. The Bobcats added 103 yards via the airways as quarterback Derek Falor (Sioux Falls, SD) completed 14 of 28 tosses. Falor suffered a pair of interceptions and was also sacked twice. Jared Gerdes (Auburn) was again the favorite receiver of Falor as the duo connected six times for 53 yards.
Linebacker Tyler DeBuhr (Auburn) led the Bobcat defense with twelve tackles during the afternoon, five were solo. Fellow linebacker Shane Ryan (Auburn) was involved in ten tackles.
The Jimmies rushed for 170 yards on 43 attempts and added 60 more through the air on 4 of 9 passing efficiency.
